"WORKING TO BRING UP WELL-ROUNDED & MULTI-TALENTED INDIVIDUALS"

EDUCATIONAL POLICY:
in the current age of internationalization and information technology, Onagawa
recognizes the need to raise creative and active citizens capable of adapting to
the fast-changing world around us, while retaining a knowledge of, and love for,
the traditions and local culture of the area.

INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE:
young people must grow up as responsible citizens in the home, at school, and
as part of the community. Onagawa furnishes many opportunities for young
people to broaden their horizons, including volunteer work and group activities.
Of particular importance are the town's international exchange activities:
relations for with the cities of Victoria and Nelson in Canada, native speaker
assistant teachers in schools, and homestay programs for junior high school students.

FACILITIES:
the town's flagship cultural facility is the Lifetime Education Center, which
provides opportunities for meetings and classes, IT lectures and creative
study for everyone, from children to the elderly.
A variety of activities can also be pursued in other related facilities such as
community centers, nature reserves and youth centers.

SPORT:
Onagawa's sporting activities are centered on the municipal sport park,
which boasts a gym, athletics track, and a baseball pitch among its modern and
varied facilities, allowing anyone to enjoy sporting or recreational activities.
The town actively invites organizations to hold their sporting events in Onagawa.
