"A
TOWN WHERE ANYONE CAN LEAD A HEALTHY & HAPPY LIFE"
INTEGRATED POLICY:
Onagawa pursues a comprehensive health and welfare policy on multiple
levels, including areas such as adult education, sports and nutrition
guidance, with the aim of allowing all residents to live life to
the fullest.
HOSPITAL CARE:
the focus of Onagawa's hospital policy lies in the municipal hospital,
a modern facility opened in 1997 that boasts round the clock care,
state of the art equipment and remote diagnosis, to enable speedier,
more accurate, and more efficient health care.
CHILD-REARING:
Onagawa provides assistance in child-rearing with 5 municipal preschools
that include consultation corners for those with questions about
raising a child. In response to demand, care for physically and
mentally challenged children and infants, and also extended hour
care have also been introduced.
CARE FOR THE AGED:
with the elderly making up 25% of the town's population, Onagawa
is very much aware of the importance of support in this area. Provisions
such as a home help service, a short stay service to aid those caring
for elderly relatives, financial support for home conversion for
the elderly, and community-organized recreational activities are
being promoted in addition to day centers and old people's homes.
